Meteor SLAMS into Australia! Causes M3.8 EARTHQUAKE as ‘burning objects’ in sky and ‘explosion’ heard

A METEOR has crashed into Earth triggering an earthquake after locals spotted 'burning objects in the sky'.

Locals reported feeling tremors after spotting the "burning objects" streaking across the sky.

There are reports a meteor, or space junk, hit near Gladstone in Queensland, Australia.

The first footage of the reported object strike was captured on CCTV and shows a huge flash.

Police received multiple calls from residents who claimed their houses were shaking.

Geoscience Australia has since officially ruled out an earthquake.

Fire services were also called out after the flaming lights were seen streaking overhead.

A witness wrote on Facebook: "It felt like an explosion and before the house shook it was blinding light."

Another added: "My husband was putting our the garbage bins when he saw the outside of the house light up.

"He turned around and saw a brilliant meteor or something flash overhead and disappeared over the sea."

One said: "I thought I was going crazy. It felt like a gush of air or pressure went through the house but all of the house is locked up."

Another said: "We heard a loud boom, I thought my son had fallen off his bed and went through the wall".

Higgins Storm Chasing wrote on Facebook: "A bright flash or light has been reported by hundreds of people, this light was seen as far South as Hervey Bay and as far North as Yeppoon with a tremor being felt upon impact over the general Gladstone area and Boyne Island."

The group added: "Reports it may have been a shooting star or meteor."

The news comes as NASA are set to make a massive this afternoon – which some have speculated could be announced proof of alien life.

UPDATE 9:06 AM EDT — According to the Australian Earthquake Authority, a magnitude 3.8 earthquake was registered on seismographs from the region where the meteor impacted the earth!  This is an incredible amount of energy at the impact site in order to register an earthquake of such magnitude.  The map below shows the earthquake coordinates / meteor impact area:

Is this China's Space Station crashing to Earth or is it still in free fall?
